"Are you a Humanist?"
Welcome to my site PedroRamirezArt! My own slice of internet with photos and info about my art. Although I am interested in a variety of mediums, I have always been particularly drawn to ceramics. First introduced to it in 1999 by Wendy Farnham and encouraged to continue by other artists, Ive also studied under the instruction of Adam Welch and Linda Casbon who were great mentors.

Ceramic sculpture opened the gates to the craft world where I’ve found much satisfaction creating small polymer clay figures with various meanings behind them. Some are fairy creatures termed Butterfly People, encased in clear plastic to preserve real butterfly wings symbolizing freedom and expression or even sadness, these are publically accepted and fun. Other similar crafts include the figures from my Mexican art movement, but unlike the former, they don’t usually have wings. I sell my crafts more often than my ceramics but people don’t always know what they symbolize. They think they are cute, but as Aristotle said, “The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance.”
